Q) What are aquaBelly®, aquaBooty™, aquaBelly Baby™ & aquaGrand™ instructors' qualifications?
A) All instructors are all highly trained and certified in pre & postnatal fitness. They have also been specifically trained to instruct in an aquatic environment. You should only take advice, classes and training from a certified instructor. aquaBelly® instructors understand the specific needs of expecting moms and the modifications required for pre & postnatal exercise. aquaGrand™ instructors have been specially trained and certified to address the special needs of active, older adults.
Q) Why should I exercise?
A) Exercise is beneficial for all people, especially during pregnancy and beyond. During pregnancy it can increase your energy level, limit unnecessary weight gain, improve your sleep, reduce stress, increase your muscle strength and improve your self-image and attitude.
Q) What if I've never exercised before?
A) The AFPA recommends adults adopt the same guidelines recommended by the CDC: moderate exercise for 30 minutes on most if not each day of the week. It is important to let your doctor know when you begin any exercise program. Our instructors are specially trained to advise and teach all fitness levels throughout all stages of pregnancy and after.
Q) How long are classes?
A) Classes are 50 minutes. Following ACOG & AFPA guidelines they include a necessary warm-up and cool down. aquaBelly Baby™ classes are 30 minutes in length. Classes are a perfect way to get the most effective workout to fit into your busy schedule!
Q) What should I wear to class? What should I bring? Will my hair get wet?
A) We recommend you wear your regular swimsuit. You may want to add an additional supportive bra/sports bra underneath to provide additional support and comfort. For additional coverage or sun protection aquaBelly® sun shirts are ideal.
It is important to bring at least 16 oz of water, towel, change of clothes and a light snack for afterwards (optional).
You don't have to go underwater so you do not need to get your hair wet if you don't want to. We understand!
Q) Do I need to know how to swim?
A) You do not need to know how to swim to participate because we never go beyond chest deep in the water.
